Attention is focusing on whether professional baseball Hanwha Eagles will play in Cheongju this season as well.메이저사이트
Cheongju City announced on the 28th that it sent an official letter to the Hanwha Eagles club asking them to hold six games at Cheongju Baseball Stadium this year following last year.
Cheongju Baseball Stadium is Hanwha's second stadium based in Chungcheong Province and has 10,500 seats.
Hanwha's home game was held here for the first time in five years last season.
Cheongju City hosted six games through additional projects to improve facilities at Cheongju Baseball Stadium, including replacing artificial grass, securing safe zones between the 1st and 3rd foul lines, remodeling the dugout, and securing locker room space, but five games were actually played due to heavy rain.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020-2022, Hanwha's home game could not be hosted because it failed to pass the due diligence of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) in 2023.
Since the 2010s, the city has spent a large amount of money to improve facilities to solve structural problems at the small and underdeveloped Cheongju Baseball Stadium, inflating the expectations of enthusiastic Hanwha fans in Cheongju and North Chungcheong Province, but it is unclear whether the same level of home games as last year will be allocated to Cheongju this year.
This is because a new stadium (Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark) with 20,000 seats has been built in Daejeon.
Hanwha is said to have to play as many games as possible at the new stadium, and it may be difficult to allocate the Cheongju game due to problems such as paying compensation for food companies in Daejeon Stadium and earning advertising.
An official from Cheongju City said, "We will do our best to attract Cheongju games by promoting the fact that there are many baseball fans in Cheongju and Chungbuk and improving facilities."
